Istanbul

Two continents, the same tea at sunset.

Inside the city

What changes once you arrive.

Istanbul opens between two continents, two seas and several eras. Minarets stand out against the Bosphorus at dawn, markets smell of freshly ground spice and neighbourhood cafés still serve tea in tulip glasses as they did a century ago.

We come here to walk slowly: cross the Golden Horn by ferry, get lost in the alleys of Balat, climb to a rooftop at sunset and let the city do the rest. Istanbul is not toured, it is crossed.

Moments

Three reasons to return.

Sunrise over the Bosphorus

Nº 01

Sunrise over the Bosphorus

An early ferry to the Asian side, gulls following the wake and the sun rising between minarets.

Tea in a Balat courtyard

Nº 02

Tea in a Balat courtyard

Colourful houses, cats in the sun and a strong çay in a tulip glass. No hurry to get up.

Dinner at a meyhane in Karaköy

Nº 03

Dinner at a meyhane in Karaköy

Small mezze, cold rakı and live music until late. The other side of the bridge, always.
